Yup. Compromise is a feature of politics. It often results in an animal designed by a committee. Sadly, incremental improvement is a way of life in this country.
There is only so much that a President can do by Executive Order. To get the cross walk to the other side would take Congressional action and lots more funding. And, as usual, members of Congress are more focused on winning the next election than they are about doing their jobs — which is to serve the American people, especially in times of crisis.
And if we look around it’s hard not to see that we are in a crisis — floods, drought, record heat wave, water shortages, supply-chain issues, shootings, hate crimes, people overwhelmed by debt, people losing their homes, overwhelming medical issues and costs, Russian war (including the grain blockade and nuclear threat), Chinese plant shutdowns, floods, and Taiwan threat, possible leakage of classified information endangering American lives, . . . tons of problems, some of which Congress does have the responsibility to address. It’s time they started looking at those and come up with some solutions that will help the American PEOPLE.
Would pay for 7 weeks at my alma mater today. When I was a student, $10K would have covered all four years. The problem ain’t loan forgiveness, the problem is tuition.

I think Mr Davies is pointing out the fact that the full amount of the loans, not just $10k~ $20, should be forgiven. Mighty big of him!

Band-aids are not enough when the chronic cause of the debt requires a surgical remedy.
