Seems to me that the important thing is that the documents are securely out of Trump’s hands.

Now, is it conceivable that the FBI took, in addition to the secret documents, and the government documents that Trump had no right to have, some documents that aren’t government property, that Trump did have an exclusive right to? Sure, especially since the boxes were full of unindexed secret stuff, government stuff, and all sorts of miscellaneous junk. That’s why the request for a special master, although (considering Trump’s history) probably just a delaying and obfuscating tactic, isn’t that legal unreasonable. If a special master is indeed appointed (last I heard, the judge is “inclined” to appoint one, pending further hearings), anyone want to bet on how many documents he or she will decide were improperly taken by the FBI. I’ll bet on a very low number, possibly zero.
