Not quite the highest court that you’d expect to find in a fully functional constitutional quasi-democratic republic that proportionally represents all its citizens.

Many in the Repub party want life rolled back to the ’40’s and ’50’s, back to Jim Crowe and back room abortions. Now, with the conservatives of SCOTUS, we seem to be getting there.

The Squiggler has been off its meds and on the pipe for awhile so it’s only a matter of time for yet another personality break. Even the bigger Proud Boys that pushed it around have tired of it and left it alone in the trailer park. It’s probably playing connect the zits with a Rump-endorsed Sharpie so it can get a face (farce?) tats like it’s newest mass murderer hero.

This is a repeat, folks, but it needs to be said. Apologies to those who have already read it.

Despite being in the minority, members of the SCOTUS, “Conservatives,” RWNJs, and white supremacists are attempting to drag this country back to their imaginary Jeffersonian agrarian idyl. The 1790 census (when Jefferson was Secretary of State), counted 5.3M Americans. Only white males owning 50 acres or more of land were permitted to vote, approximately 6% of the population. Free white men who did not own land, free white females, and slaves could not vote. In 1790 the American population was largely rural, making a living by farming. Our most recent census counted 332,403,650 Americans. Current estimates are that 83% of Americans live in urban areas. They do not work at farming. In pursuit of “small government,” the following are conservatives’ goals for their Jeffersonian America: 1. No women’s rights. 2. No civil rights for people of color, or for any other minority groups. 3. No immigration, other than Caucasians. 4. No labor unions. 5. No health insurance. 6. No legal recourse due to Republican-packed courts. 7. No social security. 8. No disability insurance. 9. No minimum wage. 10. No free and fair elections (ultimately, no elections). 11. Imposed state religion; government funding of religious schools. 12. Unregulated militias unchecked by Republican-packed courts. 13. No work on mitigating climate change; no environmental protections. 14. No free press. GOP politicians don’t care about the environment or mitigating climate change because they intend to stay permanently in office and use their money and power to take over remaining livable locations as environmental conditions worsen. Why do you people who support today’s GOP, Trump, and Trump wannabes think that you will come out winners under this regime?

After the Highland Park mass shooting murders Tucker/Traitor Carlson argued that women not being submissive and having some rights (albeit not the full component of equality with the U.S. lagging badly behind many other nations on that score) is the cause of mental illness in men and therefore women are to blame.

Personally, I would argue that mental illness in men is one of the causes of women lacking equality in the United States.

Revealed: US water likely contains more ‘forever chemicals’ than EPA tests show

Guardian analysis of water samples taken in nine US locations shows test agency uses is likely missing significant levels of PFAS pollutants

The Guardian found that seven of the nine samples collected showed higher levels of PFAS in water using the test that identifies markers for PFAS, than levels found when the water was tested using the EPA method – and at concentrations as much as 24 times greater.

“The EPA is doing the bare minimum it can and that’s putting people’s health at risk,” said Kyla Bennett, policy director at the advocacy group Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility

    Ties to cancer

PFAS are a class of chemicals used since the 1950s to make thousands of products repel water, stains and heat. They are often called “forever chemicals” because they don’t fully break down, accumulating in the environment, humans and animals. Some are toxic at very low levels and have been linked to cancer, birth defects, kidney disease, liver problems, decreased immunity and other serious health issues.

The Biden administration in June announced new actions aimed at protecting drinking water from PFAS contamination, saying the chemicals “pose a serious threat across rural, suburban and urban areas”. The administration has allocated $10bn to specifically address PFAS and other contaminants in drinking water.

Senator Graham says he will not cooperate with Georgia Trump election probe

Senator Lindsey Graham will not comply with a subpoena issued by a grand jury in Georgia investigating former U.S. President Donald Trump’s alleged attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, attorneys for the lawmaker said on Wednesday.

The grand jury also subpoenaed members of Trump’s former legal team, including personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

Obey the most horrific laws Republicans can imagine.

They would have been quite OK with a 10 year old rape victim (her uncle raped her) being forced to carry a pregnacy, because she was 3 days too late to receive an abortion in the states she lives. Thankfully, a doctor from that state was able to find a doctor in a neighboring state, that for now, legally allowed an abortion that likely saved her from an already horrific experience being made worse, by an idiotic State law. Thankfully, that state hasn’t enacted a fugitive pregnancy law, yet.

Most Americans disapprove of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade: poll

A majority of Americans disapprove of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Around six-in-ten adults disapproved of the ruling, the Pew Research Center found.

The court’s landmark decision gives states the authority to make their own abortion laws.

Most Americans have an unfavorable view of the Supreme Court’s consequential decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark ruling that established the constitutional right to abortion, a new poll conducted by Pew Research Center found.

Roughly six-in-ten American adults disapproved of the ruling, with 43% saying they strongly disapproved, according to the poll released on Wednesday. The sentiment was largely split along political party lines, as most Democrats polled disapproved of the decision and most Republicans approved of it.

The court’s decision throws out federal abortion rights of nearly 50 years and gives states the power to decide their own abortion laws. Several Republican-led states across the country have banned the procedure in the wake of the ruling, with more restrictions expected to come.
