It is kind of hard to believe that John is the same guy who swore Michael would never drive if he didn’t pay for insurance AND gas. I guess he is all talk and no memory.
At least, John apparently hasn’t caught on to the fact his car interior is wet yet…Too caught with the rare occurrence of Mike filling his baby with gas with his own money. Wait for it – he will blow after the brief shock fades.
I remember when my big brother would borrow dad’s Impala wagon. He always brought it back with the gas gauge hovering just above Empty. Even if he was supposedly just going to run three blocks to the store.
Nothing will confuse a parent more than when a child freely and voluntarily commits a responsible act with out being asked, badgered, nagged and hounded. They are like a deer in the headlights, blinded to the irresponsible acts the child has also committed.
Dad went into shock with Mike’s “…good for a car-wash if I bought gas.” By the time Mike gets home, Dad will come down from shock and begin the ARE YOU KIDDING ME phase.

Not a big problem, if you dry her off quickly, and attend to the car too.

Guess Michael was too embarrassed to admit he didn’t know how the windows work.

Oh, just wait until Dad sees the inside of the car and all those “fancy electronics”….
mindjob almost 2 years ago
I suppose car electronics weren’t too reliable in those days but now the same problem would be rare because cars are so much better

On their next date,Mike&Rhetta drive onto the stock car track by mistake.
Also,it will rain for the next 3 days so they can’t leave the car out in the sun

John didn’t hear anything after “I bought gas”.
howtheduck almost 2 years ago
John has a thought about Michael and thinks of him as “My son” rather than just his name. That says a lot about John’s relationship with Michael.
Jogger2 almost 2 years ago
What will her parents think about Michael? Her brother already doesn’t like Michael. What will he think?

Dad is definitely in shock. He forgot about the soaked interior.
