The Constitution of the United States of America is not just a guide or set of rules that we live by; it defines us as a distinct, self-governing people.

Any American that breaks with [does not adhere to] the spirit & substance of the Constitution can justly be considered:

    • at best, a loyal citizen engaged in civil disobedience, seeking a court date

    • at worst, a dis-loyal , stateless person. A criminal

The rules & regulations of our self-governance are, and should be, modified and adapted to the wants & needs of our society within the bounds of our Constitutional rights. The Supreme Court is the arbiter of these bounds.

For America to remain America, insuring domestic tranquility & promoting general welfare must be harmonized with securing liberty’s blessings & common defense. From the very beginning, Constitutional boundaries have changed. Enslaved citizens are specifically allowed in the Constitution of 1787. At that time, it was the compromise apparently necessary to harmonize the Constitution’s principles. Today, slavery is blatantly un-Constitutional. Things change.

There are a myriad of legal and dangerous things in America with the potential to disrupt our society – sooner or later, these things are almost always brought before a court of law and/or lawmakers. Poisons, explosives, traffic, narcotics, free speech, et al, are all subject to our Constitutional principles. Firearms are too. By well-established legal precedent [and common sense], automatic weapons [machine guns] are strictly regulated. The right to keep & bear arms is already subject to regulation. All firearms enthusiasts know that AR-15 style semiautomatic assault rifles can be converted into automatic rifles [machine guns].

I submit that no one Constitutional amendment or interpretation can logically, legally, or morally outweigh the absolute Constitutional mandates cited in the Preamble.
