Christian conservative attempts over the years to retard intellectual rigor to maintain a level of legitimacy regarding their religion has allowed the most ignorant and vile of Americans to be elected to public office. Texas is an example demonstrating we might not be able to recover from that.

The decorum that appeared to be the language of the daily operations of democracy actually proved to be the foundation upon which the democracy was built. The right figured this out and has been exploiting it since, and speeding up its demise. All the rules taught to government and history students were really just traditions that are now being ignored.

The U.S. sees barely 40% of voters exercise their rights in mid-term elections. Turnouts in ’08, ’16, and ’20 were 60 to 67%, which were higher than than normal 50% for presidential elections. People get what they deserve.

$5 gallon or higher gas… no problem. Real inflation rate of 50% per year … no problem. Possible food shortages… no problem. The worst recession since the 1930s coming… no problem. A one term president two years gone… obsessed.

Scares us on this side of the fence as well. Used to be.. we could count on a reasonable amount of, um.. decorum? But good Lord, times have changed.. you got some real wackos running the show now.

The Texas GOP platform also calls for secession, so I guess Biden wouldn’t be President there anyway!

My MAGAt brother in law lives near Houston. He’s been advocating for Texas to secede for decades, but declines when I offer to help him pack. For all the reasons stated above, we would be better off without Texas, and I am not joking.

What is most discouraging is how many people don’t vote because they don’t think it matters or that both sides are bad.

Well, both parties are pretty awful. That’s the way the game is played and no one gets to the federal level who doesn’t know how to play the game. It simply isn’t possible to win if you don’t cheat, because you put yourself at too much of a disadvantage against the multitude of people who don’t have those silly scruples. So, accept that fact, get past it, and figure out who will be working for you and who will be working against you. All politicians basically work for their own reelection. They may sincerely believe that their being in a position of power helps people they care about, or they may be simply interested in keeping a paying job. The result is the same. The voters need to be informed in order to separate the ones who are interested in helping the middle class from the corporate stooges who can then go get a job with their contributors. If you really want to know who a candidate will be working for, look at a site called “Open Secrets”. There are others, but this is a good one. It will tell you who is financing their campaign. We all have to do the bidding of who ever is supplying the money to pay our bills. So do politicians. If most of their money is coming from individuals, unions, or other organizations representing the Middle Class, that is who they are going to work for. If most of their money is from banks, etc, they are going to work for the 1%. They don’t really have any choice if they want to win the next election. To vote their conscience against the 1% would be political suicide.

The really sad thing is that it looks like it’ll be hard to prosecute that guy who voted absentee in Florida.

Seems even the Cartoonist can read the cards being played here. This Obsession to “Get Trump” while America falls apart at the seams is the reason Democrats will get waxed in November. Throw in a Summer of Riots, Looting & Killing over an over-hyped SCOTUS leak will not be forgotten by Nov. hell the Riots may still be rolling by then. BTW Today is a great day to announce a ban and forced buy back on “Bad Guns” what more do you have to lose.

I can’t help but think many companies are actually causing the inflation issue. They want Republicans in charge. They could care less if democracy survives. Because they know their companies will survive.
