Texas, where school children will lay down their lives so that there will be unlimited access to guns.
Abbott is embarrassed that Texas has fewer guns than California. He is not embarrassed in the least when school children are mutilated by semi-automatics. (Neither are any Republicans.)
Tale of two senators: Cruz doubles down against gun regulation while Cornyn leads GOP in negotiations
A few hours after the Uvalde school shooting left 19 elementary schoolchildren and two teachers dead, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz told a group of reporters that policies to restrict guns were off the table.
As I’ve always said, it isn’t the gun but the person. And now, Texas isn’t the only place where gun violence has become a menacing problem. Here in NYC gun violence is through the roof!
it’s the gun. take it away, the angry person will have time to think, the killer will have to find another way to kill, and won’t have time to kill so many, the crazy person will resort some other way to go crazy, and children won’t be able to play with weapons that accidentally go off. AND the hunter will use arrows and cunning (actually, this is the only reason to have a gun in a non-militaristic setting)
Texass has been permanently off my list for travel for quite some time. Any state that elects shitholes like Abbott, Paxton, and Cruz must be populated by morons not worth visiting.
They are saying that we need more police. We already have more police per capita than any other country but China. We don’t want more police than China, or more police at all. That is not the answer, we all know the answer, but the gun lobby has more power than mere voters.
Dallas Morning News had a feature on mass shootings in Texas. Twelve of them going back to the 80s. Mass means four or more dead. That did not include the first one that I really remember that was in Killeen. A guy drove his vehicle through the front doors of a restaurant and proceeded to gun people down. Somewhere around that time was the man shooting in Yuba City, California, which may have been at a MacDonald’s. There have been so many of these, many people tend to forget them. There is no safe place anywhere, anytime any more. I think it is just a crap shoot (no pun intended) that most of us live as long as we do. Ted Cruz takes more money from the NRA and similar groups than any other politician. Ken Paxton has been under indictment for years and years (Texas Attorney General) and is being sued for suing to change the results in the Trump election. Greg Abbott has his cronies running the power grid that fails when it really gets cold. Oh yeah, Cruz packs up and goes to Cancun when that happens. And these guys still get re-elected.
Do American conservatives love their guns more than American children? Do American conservatives love fetuses more than our living, breathing American children?
Guns have become the leading cause of death for American kids
C’mon, folks, the Republicans are just waiting for a respectable number of innocents to be gunned down at a school/house of worship/store before they’ll put gun control on the table… /s

I have noticed that now the RepubliCONs are trying to shift the narrative to gun violence is due to children being raised without fathers. Meanwhile, they are working overtime to force women to have children of whom a high percentage will be raised without fathers, perforce.
Why stop at guns? Now, in Florida, you can legally run over protestors if you feel threatened by their signs, or if you just want to get to Starbucks quicker.
The stupid uptight Texas cops were squabbling over who had jurisdiction. They were trying to out macho each other while children were being shot. And then the Feds showed up.
It IS the gun! If that guy hadn’t been able to buy a weapon war, he wouldn’t have been able to kill all those children. If he’d had to wait for five days before getting the guns he might have cooled down. If he hadn’t had a gun he couldn’t have shot his grandmother and started himself on a shooting spree, probably figuring if he was already in trouble he might as well go out for something extreme.
