I’ve had some that were good, some very good, some not good at all, it depends on the brand.

I’m a vegetarian (maybe technically a pescatarian) and I agree. Portabello burgers are great, but I don’t think of those as veggie burgers since they aren’t pretending to be a hamburger.

I’ve had some delicious, vegetable “patties”, but I would never call them “burgers”.

On the other hand, the “burgers” from various fast-food chains have often been described as “cardboard”, so maybe “veggie burgers” are at least as much “burgers” as those?

Actually they have massively improved veggie burgers in taste and texture for those of us who lean carnivore.

I rather enjoy a Beyond (preferred) or Impossible burger.

Jimmy Buffett would never be heard singing “Veggie Burger In Paradise”. Because if you are eating a veggie burger, you’re not in paradise.

I had a bean-based veggie burger at a restaurant in Santa Cruz. Now, I LIKE beans, but this creation was gloppy and there wasn’t enough ketchup in the world…

I gave up on FF burgers over 20 years ago. The best meat for burgers I ever found was in a small grocery store in northern MI. They sold ground Ribeye . I found over the years in Texas that if I asked my local HEB would grind a package into burger for me, then I discovered that our local grocery store here in Eastern OK was willing to do the same which made me happy. Now if I can only find A BBQ store selling Brisket that would be willing to grind it up for burgers

I’m reminded of a joke on Family Guy. One of the characters is in a restaurant and asks the waiter, “How’s the vegetable lasagna?” The reply was “Terrible. Even in the finest restaurants”

Also a fellow pescatarian (mostly vegetarian) and I enjoy veggie burgers as long as they taste like vegetables. I never, ever liked the taste of beef. I liked pork, but eventually stopped eating it. I ate chicken and turkey until I stopped eating that too. I realized that over time I had become a vegetarian…who had to add in the occasional fish when I travel and only a salad would be my veggie option. That all being said…I thought this comic was hilarious!

Beyond burgers and Impossible burgers were developed to appeal to carnivores. All of my non-vegan friends who’ve tried them liked them. Most vegans stick with bean based burgers for health reasons. It takes 1800 gallons of water to produce a pound of beef. not to mention the heart disease and cancer related to a meat-based diet. Eating hamburgers are bad for the environment, bad for your health and bad for the cows that have to die so you can eat their flesh.
