Republicans are for small government- except when it comes to the rights of women to make decisions about their own bodies or banning textbooks from schools for frivolous reasons.

The conservative, individual freedom folk have forgotten what a society owes it populace. The language should be “public safety” and “public health” rather than our favorites “law and order” and “individual rights.” The language affects how we understand things better.

I guess being up to your elbow into a woman’s uterus is the sign of “small” government! (I can think of many Small things involved there, but government is not one of them).

The best doctors and research hospitals in the world all agree. You can`t stop a virus with masks. Only vaccines can do that. The current vaccine only makes the virus less severe. Lets hope a better vaccine is on the horizon.

I always get a laugh at who the right wing chooses to make a villain. Take Dr. Anthony Fauci, mild mannered epidemiologist from Brooklyn NY. He is acknowledged by his peers as one of the leading experts on epidemics. Now into his 80’s when most people are retired (or dead), he is working full time for our country to manage a pretty serious epidemic.

Here’s the thing… Dr. Fauci has absolutely no power. He can not order a mandate. He can can not decide on a policy. He can only advise the President. And that advice is exactly what most doctors would give, we’re not done with Covid, so let’s be cautious. You can disagree with him, but one would hope you are backing that up with your many years of expertise and familiarity with the research on epidemics.

This cartoon is more evidence that the “Right” has no ideas and are not interested in doing anything productive. The only thing they can do well is invent boogey men to scare the rubes.

If you think that Dr. Fauci is an evil witch for using medical knowledge to encourage public safety during a pandemic, you are not someone who loves their neighbor.

They will eliminate the CDC and NIH if they get the opportunity, just as they eliminated the pandemic response structure.

Politics is a war of competing values. It was expected that politicians would play by the rules to get their wins but not anymore. It hasn’t helped that the less educated have bought the simplistic nonsense that media (on both sides) often spews. That anyone could think the above cartoon makes any sense is proof of that. The court in this case, btw, decided the issue on technical administrative grounds and not on any constitutional ones. The mask mandate case decision was criticized by several legal scholars. For example, “Daniel Walters, a law professor at Penn State University, was sharply critical of the district judge’s Monday mask mandate ruling, arguing that it gave an unduly narrow reading of the CDC’s authority.” Restricting the authority of section 361 of the Public Health Service Act may sound good to trumpists but it will weaken the ability of the government to step in when epidemics arise.

Republican love partisan hack judges that will do as they are told. Which is why they appoint as many unqualified judges as they can. She was appointed after Trump lost the election, thus should not have been appointed at all.

How judges are selected and appointed needs to be overhauled.

BTW, thankfully, a lot of those that believe conspiracies over reality, particularly the one that hospital Covid protocols are designed to kill Covid patients for some dumb reason or another, are now choosing to stay home and die there. That is some freeDumb that works for me.

I thought creepy Kelley wanted Fauci dead so the reds can go without masks and kill even more Americans.

Steve, you are showing your knowledge of popular culture! Its only been about 80 years since Wizard of Oz came out so I’m sure you only just got around to seeing it. Wow.

So that’s why republicans pack the courts whenever possible, to make sure government can’t interfere with corporate profits over silly things like public health mandates.

COVID-19 case numbers are trending up in the U.S. once more, with nearly all new infections driven by the growth of the Omicron subvariant BA.2.

We should end ANY involvement with research with Chinese companies in ANY fields.
