Write it into your will that they will inherit only if they do things your way.

Try dazzling your offspring with facts: cremation is NOT ecologically sound – to incinerate one body uses as much energy as a 500-mile car trip. A green burial is the way to go. Eschew the expensive coffin, and especially the EMBALMING. You should have a death plan as well as a will. Oh, and the popcorn thing is a total myth – https://melmagazine.com/en-us/story/unpopped-popcorn-cremation-meme

    It’s your choice, not theirs.

I’m very disappointed with myself for not thinking of this. It will also be a conversation point at the medical school anatomy class.

I know it is a comic and a joke and it would be a funny sight if you could see it. As someone who has had to deal with too many deaths in the last 18 months, just because you put it in writing doesn’t make it easier. I had to deal with Court and emotions and because of antiquated laws, embalming when it shouldn’t be needed. And even if the popcorn kernels would work, unless that is the cause of death you will be eating popcorn kernels until you die.

My sister has said if anyone tries to cremate her they will have a very angry ghost to deal with.

I have told my child what I would prefer when I die but followed that up with the facts that I really won’t know what she chooses or really care once I am dead, so she should feel free to do whatever makes her most at peace. I do not have it in writing, and she would legally have the right to decide.
