Twitter, Facebook, chat rooms, all of it: great ideas, terrific potential to communicate, connect, help spread ideas, promote positivity and progress… but also opened new opportunities for the worst—the manipulators, the exploiters, the disturbed, the haters…. So they make it harmful.
I like Musk, just don’t know how much he can do. Even if he takes the company private or gains 51% or more, he will have to fight the corporate culture. The rank and file seem to be against him, he would have to move a large part of Twitter to a more conservative community. Really I hope I am wrong about all of this.
Elon Musk does not now presently have Free Speech?
His ability to state his opinions about ANY topic is constrained by WHAT, exactly?
.
Is there ANYONE who posts here who doesn’t know at least SOME of Musk’s opinions?
.
No, this is not about free speech, not even remotely. Musk wants the audience that Twitter has built up so that he can force them to hear his opinions. He wants to BUY it because he is incapable of building one himself.
There is absolutely nothing to prevent Musk from launching a rival service. NOTHING! Except his own inability to do so.
Just like Truth Social. Exactly like Truth Social.
.
This a-hole claims that Twitter is the same as the ‘town square’. It is not. The town square is public property and the first amendment applies. Twitter is private, as is Facebook.
Oligarchs want no constraints on their speech and want to control everyone else’s.
@Sovan and his/her fellow believers: Stop with the “free speech” crap and read the first amendment. It states that the GOVERNMENT cannot restrict speech (although we all should agree that you can’t yell “fire” in a crowded theater). It says nothing about private companies, like Twitter or Facebook.
I’ve fired subordinates who said and did things that violated the rules of my practice, and never lost a bit of sleep over it.
If you whiners were correct, you could enjoy many an experience where bus drivers could tell you to perform sexual acts with yourself, dental hygeinists could tell you how stupid you look in that suit, servers could tell you that they won’t serve your ethnic group, etc.
The guy builds rockets and spacecraft better than NASA, ULA, Bezos, Northrop Grumman and all the rest. Same for electric vehicles. Arguably the greatest innovator of our times and a major advocate for free, unmoderated speech in the public arena. The left are not believers in free speech and thoughts, only that of their own ideology.

What an enjoyable world that would be.

A fake billionaire creates a fake Twitter.A real billionaire tries to buy the real Twitter.
You know, in case you couldn’t spot the difference.
