I was prescribed Uloric for gout. I took it for a while, then I saw one of their ads. The side effects portion was longer than the ad portion. I stopped taking it (even though it said in the ad ’don’t stop taking without talking to your doctor.‘) Quite a while later, I got gout. When I went to the doctor he asked me if I was taking it. I told him no, and why. He said "They have to say that stuff. You probably won’t have any issues at all." So I started taking it again. Then a year or so later, I got a call from my doctor saying to stop taking it immediately. Apparently the FDA had "Black Boxed’ it. When I googled it, there were problems with “Sudden Cardiac Death.” I had just refilled it for a 90-day supply at almost $400.
