Zelensky’s “Perfect Phone Call” With Trump in 2019 Explains a Lot Right Now
Zelensky became president in May 2019, and almost immediately, Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani began a pressure campaign to try to force him to announce an investigation of a Ukrainian gas company associated with Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, as part of an apparent effort to weaken Biden ahead of the Democratic presidential primaries. Giuliani also pushed Zelensky to announce an investigation into convoluted conspiracy theories that it was actually Ukraine that had meddled in the 2016 election, as a way to distract from Russia’s actual campaign to boost Trump.
In a July 22, 2019 call, Giuliani told top aides to Zelensky: “All we need from the president is to say, ‘I’m gonna put an honest prosecutor in charge, he’s gonna investigate and dig up the evidence that presently exists and is there any other evidence about involvement of the 2016 election,’ and then the Biden thing has to be run out.”
Revelations surrounding a whistleblower complaint in Sept. 2019 were the clear impetus for the scandal, as it played out in the U.S., as well as the ultimate release of the $400 million in aid. But it seems clear that Zelensky also played a key role in bringing the matter to light. The week before Democrats launched an investigation into the withheld aid, Zelensky told Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy that Giuliani had pressed him to investigate Biden and that the security aid was still being withheld—he essentially tattled on the Trump’s personal attorney as a last resort.
Only later—once Biden was in office and Trump was out—did top Ukrainian officials publicly acknowledge the full scope of the blackmail campaign and even, apparently, release recorded evidence of it.

The results would be too horrific to contemplate.

Zelensky: ‘The end of the world has arrived’
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday issued a dire appeal for help as Russia’s attacks across the country intensified.
“The end of the world has arrived,” Zelensky said during a televised news conference in Kyiv.
Zelensky appealed to Western leaders who have resisted calls to set up a no-fly zone over Ukraine.
“If you do not have the power to close the skies, then give me planes,” he said.
The Ukrainian leader also called for direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

If Putin gets his way, what will be left for him to own or rule? He is destroying the infrastructure and the people are leaving.

Interesting. GoComics published this cartoon first in black and white, then repeated it in color
