Mike, the most impressive thing about this ’toon is that you used the name Thanos, you seem to know its a name, and you used it without complaining about people who are too young to collect social security.
Each of the last four presidents have had opportunities to deal with Putin. All have made “errors” at one point or other. Almost all have imposed sanctions. All of this politically based vitriol goes a long way to support Putin’s arguments against democracy.
How ‘bout this? Putin is an independent actor, with agency. Is it just American arrogance that thinks we can just control ALL things? NO ONE knows how this will all play out. I don’t, you don’t, the experts don’t. It’ll play out, and someone will say “see, I was right”. Everyone else will likely say “see just like I said” or just ignore their past “expertise”.
To assign total blame to ANY US president, then pat yourself on the back for “scoring some points/owning the other side” is stunningly counter productive. PUTIN is to blame. Period.
“… forgive me for being obvious, but aren’t we all sickened by the suffering Putin is bringing to Ukraine? Who knows how many will be uprooted or separated from their parents — never mind wounded or die? And for what? That one person can foist so much horror on the world is frankly depressing.”

The answer is Mike Lester, the other Trump Disciple cartoonists, the Trump Disciple commenters, and Fox “news”.
You’ll notice that none of them offer support for America, nor its president, only criticism of Biden. NO condemnation of Putin whatsoever. NONE.
And they all claim that Trump did NOT attempt to weaken NATO or Ukraine, as if they believe those to be bad things. They have also ‘forgotten’ that Trump pulled America out of the Open Skies treaty AND pardoned all the Russian collaborators.
I see that with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the globe teetering on the brink of WWIII and the serious threat of nukes flying, the left can’t put aside their hate filled lies, disinformation and propaganda. I don’t know of anyone on the right side of the political spectrum in support of or approving Putin’s actions. President Trump said that Putin’s opening move was that of a savvy genius and it was. If you detach yourself from emotional hysteria and look at it from an objective military stand point it was a brilliant tactical move. Many military analysts and experts are of the same opinion. That doesn’t mean approval or support and if anyone believes that, they are a hopeless, hate filled, left wing ideologue. Putin is a ruthless tyrant, in charge of the second most powerful military and nuclear arsenal in the world. That’s not name calling, it’s an apt description of what and how dangerous he is. He’s not a Marxist, Fascist, NAZI although the closest description might possibly be National Socialist but I doubt it. But he’s a power hungry dictator who would use any any of those systems to achieve his goals, thing is he can’t. But he doesn’t need to, he’s already in the top position of power. Personally I think his profile is matched closest by a Mafioso mob boss, a Capo. Look how he got into power, by bribery, blackmail and murder. That’s basically how he runs the country and all the oligarchs are his lieutenants and sub bosses. And that’s his weak spot. Putin and his oligarchs are some of the richest people in the world and can ride out any financial pressure for a time. But that’s limited. If he fails in Ukraine, the best he can hope for is a quiet retirement in a dachau on the Black Sea. Also, I don’t think the oligarchs will let him go nuclear.
Ironic but somehow appropriate that Joe has to face the nation and deliver a State of The Union Address tomorrow. Put on your aviator glasses and try to look tough, Joe.

Shouldn’t Lester stick to praising Trump — a subject he is more familiar with? With Biden he’s stuck with ( inane ) projection!

I hope Lester has a day job, I can’t imagine anyone paying for this.

My bet is that Mike’s remuneration for this strip is based upon the comment count.

From a column by Andy Serwer this morning:
