Many Q-publicans want Biden to stand up to Putin, but he better not start a war, even if Putin wants one. They conveniently forget that Biden doesn’t have secret deals with Putin the way Trump did.
The POINT of diplomacy is to get the other side to act nice WITHOUT a shooting war. This involves talking and making various promises of future behavior. I’m sure Gorrell would prefer that we just preemptively bomb the hot sauce† out of them.
2 weeks ago Biden said “sanctions” and Putin blinked. He asked for meetings. Putin demanded conditions regarding NATO. Biden said ‘no’. Putin blinked. Putin runs a ‘false flag’ op, much like Aaron Rodgers doing a hard count to get the defense to jump off sides. NATO unites under Biden, troops sent to Eastern Europe, sanctions against Russian banks are casually mentioned. The op getting the ISIL leader in Syria sends a message. Putin blinks. Gorrell does a face-slap.
Any crisis is a great political opportunity for Republicans. Currently, Biden is in a damned if you and damned if you don’t position. No matter what he says or does will receive criticism from Republicans. After all, they have no solutions and have no moral courage to take a stand.
I know, trying to use diplomacy just looks so wussy. I’m sure Bob would rather have a Bush or Trump in there to threaten a nuclear strike, a first strike no less, than Biden trying to avoid bloodshed with, ooooo, diplomacy. And with some of the EU members of NATO being weak on sanctions, then military action may end up being the only option. And, once again, the US fighting man/woman will be the main player in there to save their bacon, and preserve guys like Bob’s pride.
The only alternative then is war. I’m not sure if the cartoonist has ever served but I’m guessing that most members of the military are tired of war after 20 years. The one that will suffer the most will be the civilians
If Putin does do something rash and stupid in Ukraine, I’d like to see the economic sanctions imposed by Biden and our European allies (those of them who actually care) really bite ol’ Vlad the Impaler in the ass.

Josh Hawley and Ftucker Carlson seem to think we should encourage the Russians to act against Ukraine.

Goofy Gorrell roots for the Russians, I see. Yet another Red Scare advocate turns to supporting Red Square.
