AGOLF TWITLER FINALLY SAYS THE SILENT PART OUT LOUD!!
During a rally on Saturday in Florence, Arizona, former President Donald Trump said no Republican will ever get elected if Senate Democrats pass their voting rights bill, which seeks to standardize voting election laws across the country and expand voting access.
The former president was referring to the “Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act,” a combination of two separate voting rights bills that were rolled into one during their passage in the House of Representatives on Thursday.
Under the bill, several requirements related to election administration, redistricting, and campaign finance would be instated, including:Declaring Election Day as a federal holiday. Restoring voting rights to formerly incarcerated people convicted of felonies. Prohibiting partisan gerrymandering by requiring states to use criteria when drawing new congressional districts. Creating more protections and allocating resources to serve voters with disabilities and overseas/military voters. Accepting a wide range of forms of non-photographic identification in places where ID is required to vote.
As if we didn’t already know that the Qpublicans are TERRIFIED of free and fair elections…
Bramosenos is quite correct (see above), “Tricky Dick” instituted his “famous” (or infamous – your call) “Southern Strategy” and the Strom Thurman “Dixiecrats” mostly moved to the republican side of the aisle – it was a better fit for the racists and bigots, anyway. The very idea of a “big tent” political party was appalling to them, anyway.
Incidently, the “big tent” idea is still catching “hell” from democrats, evidently, since “progressives” are giving “centrist” democrats all kinds of grief today!
As a “progressive”, I dislike what Manchin and Sinema are doing, but they have a right to their opinion – it’s just a shame that their opinion on the old “racist” senate filibuster is going to essentially allow the republicans to destroy American democracy.
If we’d gotten more “right-thinking” democrats in the Congress in 2020, we would not be having this discussion – but some left-wing progressives insisted on pushing their “Defund the Police” agenda in the campaign and the Right gleefully picked that slogan up and ran with it – painting all democrats as wanting to eliminate law enforcement in America, thereby creating a governmental anarchy.
That “agenda” never wanted to get rid of policing, but it was oh-so-easy to deliberately misconstrue its meaning, which republicans and a lot of independents proceeded to do!

Democrats killed MLK, he could not be controlled. We all know how well it’s worked out for American Blacks that continue to trust their Democrat Overseers. Time for Free Blacks to come out of the DNC darkness into the light.
This has been an interesting discussion. I was 23 when JFK was assassinated. I was a grad student at CO University in Boulder majoring in American History. I’ve found this article on line that I think probably sums up the question about what JFK would have done had he not been killed and LBJ’s reasons for escalation. https://americandiplomacy.web.unc.edu/2020/11/without-dallas-john-f-kennedy-and-the-vietnam-war/
The upshot is that JFK could have easily gone either way, but probably would not have escalated to full war. LBJ had reasons that probably propelled him to escalate. It was a bad calculation on his part in any case.

Actually Southern Democrats did it first. The Republicans just took it over, after the Dems championed civil rights.

They were called “Dixiecrats” back then before evolving into the G.O.P. we know today . . . hate was still the same though.

Sorta off topic, but panel 2 reminds me of the SNL Phil Hartman “Colon Blow” sketch. (Or maybe it is on topic!).
