When the person that is making a steady income repairing your stuff suggests buying a new one, it’s probably not a bad idea to listen. Even if s/he is selling the new one.
A friend of mine’s dad was a wheel in the parts dept. of Chrysler (not a dealer, Chrysler Corp. it’s own self). In the ‘70s he was saying "There are no mechanics anymore; there’s just assembly replacers". That’s gotten worse – and electronics? Forget it. When was the last time you saw a TV repair shop? “Use it a while, then throw it away.” Shameful.

I find it hard to believe that he doesn’t know the difference between retail and wholesale.
