Alas, I agree with Jen S here. The Democrats aren’t a party, they’re a loosely knit coalition of people who are scared to peeve anyone else wearing their colors. If they WERE a party, they’d be capable of having a coherent platform and protecting it.
She didn’t go back far enough. Just in my lifetime, Nixon got off the hook for Watergate and Reagan was never prosecuted for Iran-Contra. Could probably at least go on back to the civil war.
Unless the USA allows a viable third party, democracy will eventually end, perhaps sooner than later. The time seems just about right now. Fear the midterms!!
You nailed it while capturing the frustration and anger that those in the center and left of center are feeling. Historically, Dems seem to view the current political scene as they would the old Chinese water torture. “Oh, you’re going to let single drops of water continuously hit my forehead. Well, that doesn’t sound so bad.”
I expressed my feelings to #46 with a request that an award be given to two fine individuals. It read in part as follows:
Re: LtC Vindman and Fiona Hill for the Presidential Medal of Freedom
Mr. President:
Although it took you a long time to do it, your January 6th speech was what was needed by those in the center and left of center. Many of us have been getting frustrated with the Neville Chamberlain School of Politics.
Perhaps more Democrats will realize now that we are in a political time that parallels closely to that of 1930’s Germany. The era of compromise and working together “across the aisle” for the general welfare of the country has passed. It is gone.
More actions are needed if the Blues are to overcome the strategy and tactics of the Reds. Especially if there is a repeat of what historically occurs in the midterms. It is my hope and wish that at the State of the Union Address you can do something strong and symbolic to ignite more interest and belief in our future.
Although the Fat Orange Clown (the FOCer) cheapened the award, by giving it to Gym Jordan and disgusting blowhards like Limbaugh, it would be meaningful for us idealists and anyone who has taken risks or loss to “do the right thing” if you used that opportunity before Congress to award Lt. Colonel Vindman and Fiona Hill the Medal of Freedom. In addition if there is any way to do it Vindman should receive a presidential promotion to O-6 that was denied to him by the FOCer as retaliation. There are too many instances of whistle blowers and others who did their job and endure much harassment and then are quickly forgotten.
This cartoon is a great example of the Democratic party. Sure there was the pusillanimous wing that kept silent about the things mentioned. There also was the outspoken minority like the cartoonist and me. (I’m registered declines to state but generally vote Democratic because the other candidate is truly horrible.) Will Rogers’ gag about “no organized party” still applies.
Does any of the blame accrue to a nation that elected a legislative branch that is balanced on the edge of a razor?
Are “the Democrats” supposed to arrest and try every republican insurrectionist, or is that a job for law enforcement and the courts?
Maybe if you all go out and vote in such numbers that the republican vote suppressors can’t just say, “We don’t like the results” and give the Democrats substantial majorities so that Manchin and Sinema are irrelevant, something might happen.
But as long as you push the line that “the Democrats won’t do anything, so why bother to vote?”, we stand a chance of this being the last election in America.
The hand-wringing by the Dems and the threats from Repubs about how the Repubs will seek REVENGE or will take advantage of any rule changes Dems make. Harry Reid removed the filibuster for presidential nominees and some judges because of Repubs blocking or delaying EVERY nominee from Obama but left it in place for SCOTUS – then McConnell removed it for SCOTUS. If you truly believe that MM wouldn’t have done that anyway sine all three Trump nominees wouldn’t have made it over the 60 vote threshold, then I have an F-rated bridge to sell you. Look at the Trump cabinet nominees – POS education-hating DeVos even required the VP’s vote to break the tie.
make it the law that all representatives work for the people at the peoples minimum wage Also make it unlawful to accept money from super-pacs, lobbyists etc. Term limits. Max 2 terms lifetime Eliminate the filibuster. and a few other things.

Yep, the Democrats are part of the problem, and I wish they would wake up and grow a spine.

Yes, this is where we are now.
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Question about panel #6, which party would that be? Why take it by force Republicans will take America using the Ballot Box.
