A Haiku:

Mother-in-law visits wife

Cannot remain, urgent business away to attend

Chipotle, beer, beer, beer, beer

Dumb question for John – why is the caption in quotes? It isn’t being spoken by anyone in the panel, is it?

Anybody see Bleeb? What’s ‘Close To Home’ without the little guy?

Someone felt the need to correct me on my Haiku, in that it was not 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables. He’s right… it’s not correct and I know it. There’s no humor in 17 syllables, so I did it with 5 words, 7 words, 5 words.

MIL’s can be evil…ask me….been there, done that!

I don’t understand. Two women, each bringing him a slice of pie; one of whom might be his mother….and he goes all morose on them?

I think that a lot of the time the man’s mother is the evil mother-in-law to protect sonny boy.

My wife’s mother was a saint. Her step-mother, on the other hand…

I think I see the problem, he has an Oedipus complex with his MIL.

It’s too bad about part of his left leg being chewed off by an angry badger, but that black candle is just going to get him in more trouble! Maybe Bleeb is behind the candle? :)

My father-in-law was better than any blood relative of mine. He made my visits extremely pleasant. Then he died and for the next decade I had to cope with my mother-in-law on those required visits. She gave me insight to the phrase “being driven to drink”.

Literally the quantity of my usual evening cocktail of the equivalent of one shot multiplied by 6-8 fold in one evening. Evening started about 3PM.

It wasn’t all bad because when I rummaged around the basement I had found a case of Hennessy Cognac that was his. Either the MiL did not know about it or forgot.

My budget at the time was either beer on sale or cheap rot gut. I toasted my FiL with fondness with every drink. About midway through the evening it did not matter what the MiL said or did.
