This reminds me a little of when I worked at Data General back in the ’80’s. They released a new high-end computer that was very efficient to manufacture, so they gave it a pretty low price for that level of computer. Customers refused to believe that it could compare to its much higher priced competition, so they ended up raising the price to improve its credibility.
It turned out to be so efficient to manufacture, they replaced all the lower end computers with it and added an loop to the microcode called “slow_down” (or something like that) so that it would perform at the expected speed.

In real life, they would definitely produce that drug; then sell it for 50K or 100K per dose.

And that is why you don’t want for profit companies involved unless under strict control.

But you’d make mad bank until the patent ran out, so that seems a mite short sighted.

A low-fat plant-based diet is the closest thing to a true panacea.
