Yes, the DNC “rigged” the 2016 election for Hillary- They believed that she would be most likely to win and she had been a loyal participant in Democratic politics for decades. They put all their muscle behind her and that worked against Bernie, almost certainly causing him to be defeated. She would have been a good president. Compared to Trump, she would have been a great president. And, she did win, by three million votes, just not in the states than have heard nothing other than Republican propaganda for decades.
. The thing is the DNC is a private organization. It has no responsibility to represent the voters. It sponsors the candidate it prefers. The organization preferred Hillary. To be upset about that fact is to misunderstand that the parties exist to push their agenda, and to support the candidates that they believe will further that agenda. If you agree with their agenda, then support them. If you don’t support their agenda, then that would be a dumb thing to do, because they don’t represent you, they never promised to do so, and they have no responsibility to you. And, it doesn’t make any more sense to allow them to determine your opinion of any candidate than it would if it were your local YMCA. For that, you need to actually do a little research ( try Open Secrets) and find out who does best represent your opinions. But, most Bernie supporters, myself among them, actually agree with about 95% of the Democratic party agenda. And, most of them disagree with roughly 1000% of the Republican agenda. When a Bernie supporter says that they will refuse to vote for anyone else, which it is reported that 15% of Bernie supporters actually did in 2016, that is the epitome of stupid. Those 15% would have given us President Hillary and if anyone tells me they think that wouldn’t have been any better than Trump, they are either lying, shilling for the Republicans or completely put of touch with reality.
Bernie’s approval rating is so high because he hasn’t done anything. If he’d been elected, the haters would have had a field day, and his approval rating would be in the 20s.
The Repubs would have had a field day if Sanders had won the 2020 nomination. The “Socialist” drum would have been beat 24 hours per day, scaring even middle of the road voters that electing Bernie would mean the loss of any economic gains they had realized. This is why compromise candidates are elected and even they give up on many platform issues which would benefit many because of significant Congressional opposition.
I like Sen. Sanders. However I don’t see how he could do any better against voters who don’t really believe in democracy, won’t hold their representatives accountable and don’t care what happens to the country as long as they win.
Sanders is too old. So is Biden. I hope he doesn’t run again. Harris would be very low on my list and Buttigieg not much higher. I would happily vote for AOC, but she’s too young, she belongs in Congress, and I don’t believe she could win. I hope there’s someone in the wings who will captivate the voters. We need radical action to deal with climate change and a host of other problems. The Status Quo is not enough.
How is 60% possible? the percentage of conservatives and Republicans in America would seem to make that mathematically impossible. The don’t like him just for being liberal…regardless of knowing any of his policies or ideas.
We saw that Sanders is just the other side of the tRump coin in 2016. He’s as much a liar as tRump is. Sanders knows he can’t get any of his proposals passed in the Senate, and knows that better than anyone. Republican/conservatives would oppose him just as they do Biden and did Obama and Clinton. But Bernie would have opposition from a number of Democrats as well. He would be ineffective governing much like Carter was, having no support in congress.
Ah yes, Theodore, the non-voting Bernie Bros will once again turn the tide to the instant Utopia you dream of. Regarding Buttigieg, it’s pretty clear you don’t respect veterans. We’ve not forgotten about Pat Tillman, either.
Good lord give it a rest. Bernie couldn’t even get his own supporters to show up and vote for him, there’s no way he would have won a general election.
Time to adopt some more republican policies, just in case those few dozen remaining swing voters in Ohio can finally be coaxed into voting “Team D” this time around.
Democrat/Progressives can clearly see the Bloom is Off the Biden Rose. He was and is a also ran who was white enough and old enough and weak enough to head up the Democrat Party. It’s Over America Biden is finished, well honestly he never started.
Can you imagine how the corporate dems would have revolted if Bernie became president. Before the election I read where Wall Street’s approval was given to Biden, Buttigieg, and Harris, but were solidly opposed to Sanders and Warren. Naturally Biden got the nomination. Now the corporate dems are committing political suicide rather than offending their corporate donors by defending voting rights. I’m sure they can count on their golden parachutes to save themselves. Bernie would have saved Democracy first.

Extremists (even the good ones) don’t seem to do well in the actual voting. Though I do think that Bernie, would have done better than Hilary.

It’s bad enough when the RW persists in beating a dead horse, but it’s downright depressing when the LW does it.

Dems did what they had to. Bernie could never have won a POTUS race. Not even with Dominion in their pocket.
