“Good guy with a gun” B sees “Good Guy with a gun” A and feels threatened and fires.
The first one to pull the trigger, wins and the non-victim who received the bullet dies. It’s kind of like the Hollywood Western shoot-outs at high noon outside the Longbranch Saloon except it’s done with AR-15s instead of six-shooters.
Just by definition, an ‘assault weapon’ is not meant for, or designed for, self defense. New law; shoot someone with an assault weapon, and you are guilty of murder, regardless of circumstances.
I practiced optometry for decades. I went to a seminar on ocular injuries. The presenter showed an photo of an eye with a BB floating in the fluid in the middle of the eyeball.
He said, “I don’t have to tell any of you what you’re looking at.” He paused, and then said, “I hate Christmas.”

The movie “A Christmas Story” is unfortunate in that it downplays the very real danger. Good for them for illustrating how to get your tongue stuck, though….
Start’em Young with a .22 LR version of the most popular rifle platform in America. Teach Them safety before anything else. Remember Parents keep it locked up and store the ammo separate. Squeeze the trigger never jerk it.
Before anyone makes anymore Rittenhouse cracks, put yourselves in Bernhard Goetz’s situation. And keep in mind, help from police is not immediately likely on the subway.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1984_New_York_City_Subway_shooting#Shooter
The AK-47 is arguably the best hand-held weapon ever invented. It is easy and cheap to make, it is reliable, its parts whether they come from China, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia or wherever will fit with each other. It can be buried in mud for months, dug up, washed off and will still fire. It can use any ammunition that comes close to fitting in the chamber.
Even though its rate of fire, range and accuracy is exceeded by other weapons, it is more than “good enough” for killing people.
And it is so easy to shoot, even a child can use it. In fact, in a lot of third-world countries, children do. Boys are kidnapped, given drugs and an AK-47 as they are conscripted into some war lord’s army. Being given an AK-47 is a right of passage and marks a boy’s coming of age. The ceremony is know as being “Kalashnikov’ed.”
I wonder how receiving an AR-15 marks a rite of passage for a lot of Americans. I even have a name for the ceremony: it called being “Boebert’ed.”

The REAL problem is that he’ll shoot someone ELSE’S eye out. But, as GQ Psanta says: “What the heck.”

Nah, he’ll just shoot everyone else’s eye and claim it was self defense.

There will probably be a lot of the “under” as in 6 feet under……and that is sad.
