Reminds me of a “historical” event I went to that was a home schooling event in disguise. I asked one of the folks putting it on how they handled science and she said science was religion and not for them to believe.
P.E. is okay — just as long as you balance it with instruction on how to sit on the couch and surf the net while eating ice cream from the carton or chips from the bag.
Our country continues to fall apart. (And I fear the downfall is accelerating). If we don’t get out the vote in 2022 and 2024, we could easily lose our democracy.
The good things about local control are, I think obvious. As are the bad things. Turns out, that just like (everything), local control is good in the hands of good people, bad in the hands of the ignorant, angry, thoughtless or immature… and neutral otherwise.
PS: Centralized control, in practice, is almost always worse. Though centralized management (the good kind, where you specify outcomes, not methods) can work well. Bad example: “Thou shalt vaccinate everyone”. Good example: “Thou shalt bring the infection rate below X% and death rate from said infections below Y% (and here’s some grant money)”

GQPs are celebrating in VA because they just elected a new governor who pledges to stop a teaching practice that doesn’t actually exist…

Reading is OK, but only when reading approved books. On second thought, only enough reading to find Fox.

There are plenty of school boards that don’t need any help in these areas. They have also tried to make ‘intelligent design’ a mandatory course.

And then there are the states which DEMAND that the Holocaust not be taught unless opposing views also be taught.

If that’s what they want there are plenty of private schools for that sort of thing.

All too often the real motive behind “Private Christian Schools” not all mind you, but too many. “Science doesn’t care what you believe”
