Gee, Lisa, is “big government” anything like that Texas abortion law that pays people a bounty for turning in their neighbors? Or like those state laws forbidding private companies from having their own health requirements?

If Lisa replaced “government” with “corporations”, she might have something here.

Big government? Clearly, in her reality-reversed disconnection from the real world, uneducated (early dropout) Lisa Benson does not realize that it is the TrumpubliQan party that is the party of Big Intrusive Government.

“Small government” TrumpubliQans only want “small government” for corporations and the few richest elites who already have the most, but they want Big Intrusive Government to micromanage your personal life. Republicans and “conservatives” want to get government “off the backs” of corporations and the Wall $treet Bank$ters who collapsed our economy. But they want BIG MILITARY and BIG CORPORATE WELFARE and telling people how to live their private lives. Oh, and military. Lots of military. Big military. And tons of money for their “defense contractors” of the military-industrial complex who want to sacrifice our brave young heroes on the blood-spattered altar of greedy corporate profits..

Democrats and PROgressives want BIG SAFETY NET, but want government out of our private lives.

PROgressives understand that what is important is not “small government” or “big government,” but the ROLE of government.

Democrats and PROgressives want government that will address legitimate issues of public policy to protect workers and consumers — from invasion, from crime, and yes, from corporate bullies that would dominate them. And yes, that “public health and safety” includes the right not to die because you can’t afford medical care. And we want government to manage and develop our shared PUBLIC environment and infrastructure. But we also want Big Intrusive Government to stay the hell out of our private lives, including private relationships (dictate who you can or can’t marry), private medical choices (reproductive choices, medical marijuana, end of life choices, stem cell therapies) or try to force PRIVATE religion into PUBLIC policy or subsidize it with special tax advantages (socialized religion).

Nice work from a supporter of the folks who want to interfere in the private lives of the citizens, who prefer that taxes be levied against only the middle class… and who are working to kill off the only folks who are willing to vote for them.

and big business is different?

Loony Lisa thinks taking care of people is “big government”, while legislating women’s parts, bedroom activities, and disenfranchising voters is just fine.

Like all conservatives Lisa hates “Big Government” but can’t even really tells us what it is without eliminating half of the things that they also claim to support.

Lead in their water pipes, flood control, fighting fires..etc.

It was Republicans that gave us the “Dept. of Homeland Security”, a fine example of Big, Useless Government bureaucracy.

Yeah, let’s eliminate clean water/air, federal highways, postal service (already under attack), fair voting (also under attack), protecting workers’ rights, etc., many things you, Lisa Benson, benefit from and pay for with your taxes. Also, the federal government may not be a path people take to accumulate great wealth but it provides working conditions with health care and pensions, allowing employees to achieve their piece of the American dream.

I share Ms. Benson’s concerns about the big government that tells doctors what they can discuss with patients… what women can do about pregnancies… what teachers can say in the classroom… how people can vote… who can marry whom… the big government that tells businesses and schools that they can’t protect the people who come through their doors from the deadliest pandemic in a century… yeah, you go, Lisa.

Isn’t it interesting that it’s the Qpublicans who CLAIM to hate “Big Government”, but THEY are the ones who want to tell you WHO you can Marry, and they want to tell any Woman who is raped that they MUST carry the baby to term. Just more Qpublican hypocrisy.

Benson’s “Common Sense” wouldn’t even fill the navel of a fruit fly!

Notice that Ms. Benson does not include corporations as part of the infrastructure that supports the government…

You spelled BUSINESS wrong on the facility dome drawn in the toon.

And the people drawn should be extremely tiny, so there can be enough of them to more accurately represent the 99% exploited by BIG BUSINESS to accrue unconscionable/beyond spendable wealth for the 1%.

Other than that, not bad.

Lisa you have in some places a point. The Office of Faith Based Initiatives is junk and needs to be eliminated. South Dakota having two senators is waste. They need to be blended into North Dakota, renamed “RedNeckistan”, and set to having a total of 2 Senators. Idaho is a composed of potatoes and domestic terror breeders. It needs to be absorbed by Washington state and its congress parasites eliminated. Wyoming needs to be absorbed by the states around it. Texas needs to be ejected and declared a hostile foreign country. There is waste and fraud in the military, medicare, & medicaid which ends up employing people (human infrastructure) that YOU are advocating be purged. Now all of that makes for a tough way to draw a ’toon so I get it that you drew this in your overwhelmed state of eternal outrage.

The less than 25% republican minority are stopping the 75% majority from getting what they want.

Pathetic.

Conservatives always proceed from the assumption that bigger government is inherently bad, and that everyone obviously sees that.

It’s not and they don’t.

Big Gov doesn’t work. Trump & G W Bush were dedicated to proving that by hiring & appointing unqualified people.

Each member of congress gets something like $180,000/year. What a waste of money!
