MOST Presidents try to do good things. Biden does too. But he ALSO tries to UNDO BAD things from the orange mistake. Good that he’s able to do some of each. Wish it were more.
I was just reading a piece in “Archaeology” today about those cuts that demented cretin tried. I was sitting there thinking how good it was that those had been rescinded. If we had a rational congress a bill would get passed to make the area unassailable. When it’s a congressional act it would take longer to make it possible to once again wreck and ruin the sites. Sadly we don’t seem to have much sanity in congress.
The lands contain many artifacts that were created by First Peoples / Native Americans. The monument status was created to establish authority to protect such objects from unscrupulous dealers in looted antiquities. The area holds cultural and spiritual importance to the five adjacent Utah tribes. Those five tribes, working with United States government agencies, oversee the preservation and protection of the lands and the cultural riches there. Trump, of course, has zero concern for any such matters.
I’m not a straight ticket voter but I do lean strongly right. I voted for T bc he was the lesser of 2 evils against H. I do not like the Biden administrations suspiciously dismal performance at all but everyday I hear Dems bash T while barely anybody on either side addresses Biden. Just an observation for another time.
Personaly I don’t want Trump back in office ever. I wish I could have a candidate I was actually excited about. In the meantime, I’ve heard several clever & sometimes hilarious names for Trump. My favorites so far have been:
Dolt 45
Dump
And a third great one I can’t remember. Anyone heard anything better than Dolt 45?
Personally, I’d rather have accomplished problem-solvers, that think of themselves primarily as public servants — rather than loyal party members — as candidates of public office.
Stripping protections from environmentally/historic lands is usually done in response to resources people want to extract (minerals, timber), grazing, or just wanting to drive off-road vehicles wherever people want, damn the consequences.
Thanks to Teddy Roosevelt, we have National Parks to enjoy. If Trump were to be re-elected we’d soon have Trump Hotels, gated communities for the rich and bears would soon be extinct in the wild. If you wanted to see a bear they’d be behind bars . . . like Trump should.
It’s another land grab by the left wing Democrats and the Federal government. The Feds own 47% of the land west of the Mississippi River as compared to only 4% east of it. Why is that? Here’s a short article on it with a map:
