My Grandfather invented/created the first phone booth. He worked for Bell, until then the phones were outside on poles. There was quite a bit of engineering that went into them; weight balance, size, etc, including being made of materials that would not burn when idiots try to set them on fire with their lighters. I would not have known but all he had to show for it was a little statue that sat on his fireplace mantel.
