There were doctors’ office magazine management services. The magazines were free, but they had a big medical information advertising section stapled under the cover and in the middle.
That job would go to the office manager and also explain how poorly most offices are run. Same premise different person to blame. Doctor can’t manage the staff and the staff can’t manage the stuff.

One visit wanting in the Drs. office, I realized many came here because they were sick and many were handling the magazines.
Ever since I never touch the magazines in the Drs. office.

The last time I went to the doctors office there were no newspapers or magazines, or anything else people were likely to handle and set down again
Most people have a device now to occupy their time anyway
