A microwave? You mean they weren’t listening to an old episode of Major Bowes’ Amateur Hour, where Frank Sinatra and Maria Callas were discovered (but not together)?
I remember using a flatmate’s old Amana Radar Range back in med school. that thing had two dials, one for 5 minutes or less and one for 5 minutes or more and a button/lever to press when your time was up. No carousel or anything like that. We now have one with all kinds of setting and a button for 30 seconds and it will keep adding 30 seconds every time you push it. And a carousel to evenly heat the item/s without having to stop and turn the item. I swear that Radar Range was from the 1960s. I’ll bet it’s still working and better than most of these new ones.
