October, the month of gloomy moods that falls between Summer and the hectic holiday season to come that runs through New Year’s Day. I never liked this month of the year for some reason.Maybe that’s why we came up with Oktoberfest,…. to distract us. ;-)

Katy should read an article in last month’s Reader’s Digest about a miniature horse (which is different from a pony, I think) named Magic who is employed as a therapy animal in hospitals, nursing homes, etc.

At one assisted-living facility, her head on a woman’s lap actually made the woman speak for the first time in the three years she was there!

It’s a very touching story, which could be used as an excuse for Katy getting a pony—if that ruse hasn’t already been used!!

October in SoCal means Santa Ana winds, which come roaring out of the east at 50-100 mph, sucking the humidity down to single digits and the temperatures up to triple digits, and causing the wildlands to explode into flame. Forget pumpkin spice … the smell of October in SoCal is a brushfire. (fyi—I hate October)

I love the “ber” months. They signal the end of the heat and humidity of south Georgia.

I’m at the age where I’d rather think of pumpkin pie and colorful leaves. Halloween was fun when the kids were young or when I was young for that matter.

You’re never to old to play dress-up. The exception is “Sexy” anything.

Our local Walmart has skipped Halloween and Thanksgiving and has gone straight to Christmas!
