Yep. He owns that one. But what sunk Gerry Ford was the Nixon pardon, not Saigon. By ‘76 Americans no longer cared about SVN.

No one wanted to stay in Afghanistan. I never wanted us there in the first place. And no one is suggesting that the decision to pull out was wrong. I’ve been sick of watching our soldiers needlessly die in the middle east for decades now.

But it is obvious that the pull out was massively bungled and mishandled and THAT sits firmly, fairly, and squarely in Biden’s lap.

For 20 years you train an army to protect its homeland and the moment you pull up stakes they throw down their arms. There never was going to be a “good time” to leave. The biggest mistake was not leaving 6 weeks after going in.

Barely 8 months in office and already the worst President in history. Way to go, Joe!

Why don’t you go tell the families of the dead and then drop by the VA and tell those recovering from their wounds why we were in Afghanistan in the first place

The lesson is, as with Vietnam, that even if the ascendant force is flawed or even evil (Ho Chi Minh, the Taliban) putting a corrupt and inept clique in power and propping them up with US troops is not the answer.

At last an end to the Republican Viet Nam. Nice little money maker for some, great false hope for Afghan Women. Now lets see if we can get a religious government going here in the USA

This is what happens when you have people making “President decisions” that are unknown. Who really is running the presidency? I don’t know but have suspicions!

It probably would have gone better if Trump hadn’t just released 5000 Taliban.

This is like when the player in a baseball games strikes out in the bottom of the ninth and everyone blames him for losing the game when his team was behind since the 1st inning. The performance of all the other players on his team for the entire game is suddenly forgotten and it is all that one players fault for that final at bat. Not saying Biden did a good job at the plate. But this loss was team effort spanning four presidencies.

Biden is telling it as it is: You WILL (he did NOT say) see people mobbing the planes as they leave, some grabbing on only to fall to their deaths. Very bad planning, exacerbated by wishful thinking on the part of the analysts who thought the Afghan army would actually do something other than lay down their guns and run. Now, if Varvel or one of the stable of Rong wingers would talk about THAT, I’d have some respect for them. But no, they have to blame Biden. I have come across an initialism that I like that describes these common taters. They’re TSTL.
