Probably the last thing on the minds of Afghani women in Kabul (and elsewhere).

Meanwhile, certain multi-billionaires may be slyly scouting the possibilities of future orbiting climate-change-refuge colonies — O’Neill Cylinder Habitats — for those who can afford the high prices— gated communities off-world. Several recent movies have presented the concept as likely to take shape eventually as orbiting “Club Meds.” Expect brochures soon, via “SpaceBook.” (—

A small number of businesses are responsible for the bulk of pollution …

ExxonMobil, Shell, BP and Chevron are identified as among the highest emitting investor-owned companies since 1988. If fossil fuels continue to be extracted at the same rate over the next 28 years as they were between 1988 and 2017, says the report, global average temperatures would be on course to rise by 4C by the end of the century. This is likely to have catastrophic consequences including substantial species extinction and global food scarcity risks.

While companies have a huge role to play in driving climate change, says Faria, the barrier is the “absolute tension” between short-term profitability and the urgent need to reduce emissions.

A Carbon Tracker study in 2015 found that fossil fuel companies risked wasting more than $2tn over the coming decade by pursuing coal, oil and gas projects that could be worthless in the face of international action on climate change and advances in renewables – in turn posing substantial threats to investor returns.

Just 5 Percent of Power Plants Release 73 Percent of Global Electricity Production Emissions

Targeting the world’s worst emitters could offer disproportionate benefits when it comes to fighting climate change

Meanwhile, it’s long past time to institute a few moderate measures to address the problem, such as:

$1/pound tax on carbon, assessed at the source, and distributed equally to all. Increase the tax every year.

Mandate regenerative agriculture. Ban almost all pesticides. Resurrect native ecosystems.

Convert the military (the worst polluter we have) to providing Earth-assist missions only. Close the 800-or-so foreign bases.

No new roads. Maintenance and repair only.

Shut down offshore drilling. No more environmental aBPocalypses.

I’m tired of talking about the problem, let’s start instituting some solutions. Or at least, mitigations.

Hot Composting Basics: The size of your compost bin or pile is very important when it comes to hot composting. Too small and the pile won’t heat up sufficiently.

We have a planet sized composting bin. Time to rethink the plan.

No matter what we do now, it is already too late. We have hit the tipping points when natural effects of the damage we have done will start to trip the on switch for planetary carbon release and the climate change will only accelerate now. Will the last humans please free the animals, birds and fish we have condemned to live in manmade structures so that those species with the best chance of survival will have a fighting chance.

What if every single comic strip devoted a week to climate change? I know don’t we don’t like to use the “big gun” but, hey, it worked for poverty, didn’t it? (Didn’t it?)
