The threat from USSR was real, as is the threat from Trump’s puppeteer, Putin. It was a Republican administration that lied about WMD so they and their friends could profit from military contracts. (So, complain about wasting money on bridges when it could be used to kill brown people and give Americans PTSD.)
People with unsureness like the person depicted here are not a problem…it is the willfully deliberately ignorant who cause the real frustration. Those who would reject 1 + 1 = 2 if they saw a social media posting from an ideological leader who said it was otherwise.
There are those opposing the vaccine because its not FDA approved yet but that will come soon. Unfortunately there are those opposing it because a false messiah has stirred up their hatred and distrust of anything the federal government recommends.
The folk I know who are being refuseniks aren’t doing so because they don’t understand how the vaccine works; but because the government is telling them to get the jab. I have very little empathy with this point of view.
We’ve always had “anti-vaxxers”, that’s obvious by knowing that George Washington had to order all his army to be inoculated. There were anti-vaxxers against the polio vaccine. The difference between then and now is all our communication, the media. Same stupid, but now we hear it 24/7.
According to Mr. Rall, the antivaxing situation that we now have is the fault of the medical people who are explaining pandemic dynamics to the public. However, if we take Dr. Fauci as an example, the medical people have been providing accurate, easy to follow discussion. The antivaxing content is coming to us from, say, Fox News and the internet, e.g. Facebook. This is not one of Mr. Rall’s better efforts
There is plenty of good, factual information out there about COVID-19 (including on the CDC website), about the vaccine, how the vaccine is made, what the vaccine is, studies on masks, studies on disease transmission etc etc. My point is if you want to educate yourself, the data is easily accessible (provided you have a device and internet access). If you don’t, that’s your personal responsibility and choice.
People aren’t being talked down to, they are deliberately choosing not to believe in certain facts.
Because people who believe they’re going to be injected with a microchip are REALLY going to suddenly enlightened once they know the facts – which have been out there all along.

WHY do they feel talked down to? And why does Rall think it’s not their own damn fault?

They are stupid, anti vaxers kill the Social Contract.

There are those who will still tell you that Iraq is responsible for 9/11. My guess that group skews heavily towards anti-vax.

Oh, they will believe anything as long as it is not the truth.

I trust most scientists but the government has a bad record when it comes to telling the truth.
