I had to wear ties a lot over the years & am glad to have reached an age where I don’t have to. Yes, a regular neck tie takes the soup stain before your shirt does, but the dangling below one’s neck seemed like a leash. I preferred bow ties because you don’t see them when you look down and don’t get in the way. Naturally there were many days when I could have sworn I had put a tie on…

If you have to tie a ribbon ’round your neck you may as well tie it in a bow.
