But, but, but!…Admitting that America had and still has a problem with race is tantamount to an evil Marxist plot to destroy civilization!

Someone REALLY needs to tell the Qpublicans that even though they want to CANCEL this part of American History, IT DID HAPPEN, and no amount of whitewashing it will change that fact.

The Declaration sat forward an ideal. We have not yet achieved it, but we are evolving into it, despite the frantic attempts to hold us back.

The Declaration probably would have never been signed by all the colonies if abolishing slavery had been included. Nor would the Constitution been ratified. More than enough time has passed since then, the U.S. needs to once and for all actively eliminate racism and sexism from society.

Republicans don’t want people to gather votes from scattered American native peoples, its another form of right wing vote suppression. Do not let the vile anti democracy republicans take away your sacred vote.

Many of our Founders led by John Adams wanted to include our slaves in establishing independence and their freedom from slavery, Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration and a Southerner and a slave owner supported freeing of the slaves and full equality, The Sothern colonies did not. Our Founders knew it was doubtful that they could win a war against the then world power, let alone do it with only 7 colonies. The slaves paid the price for our Independence. This great nation was built, figuratively and literally, on the backs of our slaves. It is long past time that all Americans should be treated as equal.

    America’s original sin.

America won’t win until everyone is considered equal.

Perhaps time to make fines based on wealth. After all a $150 traffic ticket can be devastating for someone on minimum wage, even if it’s raised to $15 an hour. Whereas, a rich person will hire an attorney for a couple of grand or less, to beat the ticket, in order to re offend as often as they please without loosing their license.

Russia has always known our “Achilles Heal”. It is white racism. One of the reasons LBJ signed the voting Rights and Civil Rights Acts was because we were losing the global propaganda war. In the 1950’s and 1960’s all the communists had to do to get 3rd world countries on their side was tell them to watch American evening news. Just look at how they treat people that look like you.

We have not had one minute of “liberty and justice for all” and “equal protection under the law”. Republicans have given up on democracy if it means merely be equal citizens with the rest of us. Most Democrats don’t want to believe how racist their GOP cousins are.

    Get over yourselves.

A huge percentage, perhaps a majority of non-black citizens descend from immigrants who arrived AFTER slavery was abolished.

WE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

Just look at yourselves. It took 100 years for us to eliminate segregation on a national basis.

But today Universities are offering SEGREGATED HOUSING. Encouraging racial separation. Promoting one of the most restrictive and divisive practices ever conceived.

Universities are NOT offering segregated dorms. They do have to be careful about how the rules on “groups” to make sure that it doesn’t get out of hand. College is often the first real exposure many get to diversity, which should be encouraged.

The white immigrants that came to the U.S. after slavery ended had advantages that are ignored. Redlining interfered with black people being able to get home loans. There was some discrimination against some white groups e.g. “Irish need not apply” but the prevalence of “colored” water fountains, segregated entrances to entertainment venues, restrictions at hotels and restaurants and Jim Crow laws continued long after slavery ended.

Those of us that want people to be educated about the U.S. history, warts and all, don’t claim to be “perfect in every way”. What a silly thought.

Ignoring the history of the U.S. by pointing at issues in other countries is childish and unproductive.

A speech by Frederick Douglass’ “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” on July 5th 1852 after being asked to speak at a celebratory speech sums this topic up nicely. I mean, American Independence from England didn’t free the slaves in America so they have no reason to celebrate the holiday.
