It was the same for my brother when he went to catering college in England. When we moved from Ireland to England he wanted to go on a specific course but the course he wanted was already 2 years into a three year course. He was told he could join but he would have to catch up. He did. He studied hard and worked hard, really hard did the whole 3 year course in one year. He was one of the top 5 in his class, graduated with high honours and degrees in Food Sciences and Specialised Catering. He was also the first one of his class to get a full time job as a Head Chef in one of the leading hotels in the town.
“Also, if you get pregnant, finish that in six month.”
Once, I interviewed to upgrade a software package. They said “this is three month’s work.” I said “I can do it in six weeks.” They hired me, I did it in six weeks, and worked on other projects for them for three years.
