Big mistake, I got whipped. Now here is the rub – if you didn’t want me to get dirty, why did you put me outside? In a new subdivision? That had no grass in yet?
Parents ought not to say things that are so tempting to make a snarky remark at. Worst spanking I ever got was for 2 such remarks. First my dad ragged on me for not closing my eyes when he said grace at the table. I asked how he knew I didn’t have my eyes closed if he had his closed. Then when he took me into my room for a spanking he said that old cliche “This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you” and I said “Let’s change places then.”
