I get the sight gag of it all, but I personally have not worn a watch for over 30 years, and as memory serves, never wore one to school. Got to give the kid credit for being able to read the time when presumably not in digital format.
If it’s under 1000 words he doesn’t need to start it for another 10 minutes. I routinely wrote, edited, included foot notes and bibliography to university level undergrad essays in 3 hours the morning they were due, and always got grades between 80% and 90% on them. Only time i wrote the paper ahead of time, revised it multiple times because i was trying to break the procrastination habit, I got 67%. And yes i had done many of my last minute essays for the same professor, in multiple courses.

I am a long time past high school but I still remember the feeling of that burning fuse of a report due.
