Putting the fear of any god into a child is the worst kind of bullying. Faith is child abuse. Teaching a child to uncritically accept religious lies is teaching them to not think. You are teaching them that belief without evidence is acceptable. This damages the child’s ability to reason. Add to that, teaching the child that normal behaviour is sinful, and that the sinful are hell bound, and you get a clear pattern of psychological abuse. Glad you were able to escape. You were able to escape, right?

Very clever. Now do one about Islam.

I’ve always found it odd that Protestants are much more willing to throw people in hell. They seem to ignore Jay-sus teaching about God’s mercy.

And for those of you that may be offended by Red’s spelling of Jesus, don’t be. Jay-sus is how it’s pronounced in the south.

This has been more fun than you think. I grew up Methodist and have stories also. Being able to laugh at these does not mean you are belittling or mocking any religion or faith. I think this line has been informative and insightful. Thanks for sharing.
