Slice and dice with jump scares too often pass for horror.

horror films like “House on the Haunted Hill” with Vincent Price or King Kong, weren’t as gruesome as the horror films of today.

I remember some reviewer, Gene Siskel, maybe, making a point about how older horror movies were designed so that the viewer identified with the victims or saw the killer through the victim’s eyes. Newer horror movies flipped that, and showed the violence from the killer’s point of view. Think of the shower scene in Psycho vs any of the “Nightmare” or similar movies.

when a movie has 5 decapitations including spurting blood all during the opening credits, where are they going to go from there? Yeah, I didn’t watch anymore of the movie either. I didn’t want to know.
