I wonder if this is the first cartoon where a character alone in the room is talking to themselves out loud instead of using a thought balloon? Probably in keeping with a story line of psychiatric examination coming up.
Remember the movie Airplane!? When the ‘hero’ is telling his story to other passengers and they try to set themselves on fire or try to hang themselves? That’d be Ernie Bushmiller if he were alive today.
