With a two week delay between infection and detection, and another two weeks until the infection becomes death (all rough averages, I do understand) – he’s just hoping that his constituency forgets all about how he willfully tossed them into the grave by the time the dirt is being shoveled in on top of them.

And the stable genius wannabe is up for reelection in 2022.

    Congratulations, Governor Beto!

Now in the face of water shortages and infrastructure problems… We are in need of massive federal help. Where is the assistance we need?

The last panel should say “This space for rent” because he’s not going to be using it.

Maybe it’s time to start moving everything that is federally owned and controlled out of the state in preparation to let them become Trumpland (formerly Texas). And charge them market value for everything the want the fed to provide that they won’t pay for themselves…

Look at all we do for them, and what do they do for us? Send to Washington a wonderful senator named Ted.

federal government shouldn’t fully subsidize well-off beachfront communities with “beach nourishment”

From the republicans who brought you no electricity and no water now no masks just as every version of covid has popped up in Houston.

Murderous republicans don’t give a fig about the lives of Americans.

“Texans” are schizophrenic. Somewhere above half of them are unable to think past “MY RIGHTS” to anything as difficult to understand as “EVERYBODY’S RIGHTS”. The other half (less well represented) is reasonably intelligent and at least moderately able to understand nuance, complexity, and “everybody has needs”.

Power grid: California has some of the most stringent and burdensome state and federal rules and regulations in the nation. Yet they have had rolling brownouts for years. Texas got hit by a perfect storm of bad weather and record low temperatures.

Masks: Last year the University of Copenhagen did a peer reviewed study involving 6000 people on the efficacy of wearing masks. They found there was only a 0.3% difference between those who wore masks and those who didn’t in contracting the virus. A number so low that the University deemed it statistically insignificant. Their results were published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

I think the governor of a state has to request federal help in cases like the current Texas crises. We used to have a great state. I had a friend who said air conditioning ruined Texas. It allowed Republicans to live here.I can remember when there weren’t enough Republicans in Texas to even have one on the ballot for governor. I try to tell Trumpsters that and I get yelled at.

I remember when the border with Mexico was just a muddy creek claiming to be a river. The international bridge between Laredo and Nuevo Laredo was just so people could walk across the border without getting their feet wet. When you got to San Antonio headed South, Spanish was the language of choice and common usage. Then Americans started using drugs. Republicans moved in and it all went to hell.

Must be why Cruz abandoned his constituents during their power / cold crisis – they don’t want Federal government involvement, and he is part of the Federal government…

So not all Texas are assholes or Republicans. Plenty of us in Austin aren’t. And guess what? We’re still gonna social distance and wear masks.

What scares me now is the number of low-watt goobers who live in Texass who might see people who still choose to wear a mask, will try to tell them that the Governor says that they CANNOT WEAR ONE, and will try to take them off by force! And don’t think that it can’t happen…

To quote Neil deGrasse Tyson: We’re just sayin’. To abolish mask-wearing laws in some States while the rest of the Nation keeps theirs is like designating a peeing section of the swimming pool.
