Stage magic isn’t ruined by technology, but it is enhanced. Some magicians use cell phones and computers as physical things to create illusions. Pulling a physical card out of a screen image, for example, and the card image disappears at that moment. Right now, electronic ink (digital ink) used by ebook readers and changable signs in grocery stores is the new go-to for mentalist tricks. The image that the person from the audience draws appears to be the exact same image that the magician supposedly drew earlier. Actually, an assistant drew it on a laptop and transferred it digitally to that e-ink paper.

I think we’ve collectively grown bored with CGI. When’s the last time you’ve seen a commercial on TV without at least some computer generated elements? In my opinion, that’s why the Super Bowl ads this year were such duds. It’s all been done already – nothing astounds.
