Just got off the phone with an old (and I mean old) high school friend. Both he and his wife were in my class in school. A few years ago after years and years of illness resulting in near blindness, heart attack, and dialysis, she decided that it was over. She stopped taking her meds and going to dialysis. Told her husband and kids that this is what she wanted. Within a week, she was gone. The husband doesn’t live far from the cemetery and goes to visit her grave every day. When I write to him I always tell him to tell Marge that we’re thinking about her. He said that today, he was pretty sure that he heard her say tell Jim and Janet I appreciate their friendship continuing with you.
