Once, I was driving South on highway 101 and stopped to pick up a hippie philosopher type guy that I recognized, but didn’t know. I pointed out a big Douglas Fir and commented that you could probably build a whole house out of the one tree. He was horrified. He then pointed out that humans are not a requisite for Gaia to have a good planet… in fact, maybe not even a good idea at all. The older I get, the more I see his point.
