CAPITOL POLICE AND FEDERAL OFFICERS KNOW HOW TO SECURE THE CAPITOL, something they routinely do for high-profile events, and they did not do it.

While some Capitol police officers acted heroically despite being inadequately provisioned, some others were less heroic, helping move barriers out of the way of invading terrorist TRAITORS, standing by and doing nothing, taking selfies with them, and letting them march peacefully out of the building instead of arresting them.
Muriel Bowser, the mayor of D.C. tried to call up the DC National Guard, which requires Department of Defense authorization. TRUMP REFUSED and DENIED the request. Hours later Mike Pence, likely exceeding his authority, authorized it.
Larry Hogan, the REPUBLICAN governor of the adjacent state of Maryland offered to call up and send the Maryland National Guard. The ACTING secretary of defense, a Trump loyalist, DENIED the request. Hours later, the secretary of the Army authorized it.
The Trump people stirred up this insurrection and when it got clearly out of hand, refused to take action to contain it. Actions taken were done in defiance of, not compliance with, Trump orders.
Impeachment, even after the fact, will make a point. Once the House sends the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate, we can wait for the for the Senate to change hands before continuing – Impeachment IS NOT LIKE A BILL – it doesn’t die between sessions of the Senate – and it also doesn’t die just because the man is no longer president, either! Impeachment establishes HOW America views and acts toward the impeached individual – not the office he or she held.

I find myself wondering for that reason if the individuals who stole classified data during the attempted coup can be charged with espionage, too. Certainly, if domestic ISIS members had done this such charges would occur if at all possible, as well they should.

When was the last time DC was so unprepared for a large group of demonstrators or have the ability to respond quickly if events got out of hand? Incompetence or a fix? Trump has filled the government with unqualified stooges but I think the fix was in. We’ll see what the investigations turn up.
