The more things change the more they stay the same. Such an “exceptional” nation we are. A regular shining beacon on the hill. We would do better if we used our brains more than we used our thumbs.

As long as our “leaders” get their vaccination and free healthcare, I’m happy.

It would be nice if Ted Rall stuck to the truth. Panel 2 is flat-out dishonest. We had a program that gave unemployed workers $2400/month ($600/week) in extra unemployment benefits, which would pay the rent money he cites. It didn’t run long enough, and its renewal was blocked by Congressional Trumpublicans. It’s fair to criticize the nonrenewal of the program. It’s a lie to say it never existed or was never considered. Not all plagues are sent to both their houses, however much Rall may wish to.

For once, we may need that bloated budget. Trump and McConnell have left this country in a weakened position and the authoritarian vultures are beginning to circle.

In Afghanistan, it’s not so much missiles anymore as it is unclaimed mysterious targeted killings of journalists. In general, we HAVE been withdrawing from Afghanistan. It’s just that we tried to withdraw quickly in Iraq, and that resulted in us going back, soo… not very successful.

Who is this “we” you speak of. The far left is just as guilty of Both Sides BS as the far right. Try and be more honest about who passed what in congress and lay blame for failings. Did Rall even look at the $3 trillion relief packaged passed by Democrats in the House in May which was blocked by Republicans in the Senate? Likely not from the shifty lying in this toon. #BothSidesDont This bullet points the contents https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/15/coronavirus-updates-house-passes-3-trillion-relief-package.html

Astounding. When a threat is perceived, and sometimes even when it isn’t, we suddenly have unlimited funds to send people all over the world with tons of machinery at a moment’s notice to kill people. No one questions it.

But we have no money to help ourselves. How does that show superiority?

There’s a fable about a rich man who was afraid that he would be robbed of all his wealth. So he built a kevlar vault, surrounding it with a thick concrete building with an electric fence, security lighting and alarms, and on and on. And then he found he had no money to put into this secure fortress: he’d spent it all. Fables can’t turn out to be real, can they?

“We”? The working class majority never discussed or voted on any of this. TED, stop identifying with our oppressors. Develop your class consciousness. This is Class War.

    “WE”?

Ted, those things were never considered by any Republicans*. Never.

“The Senate is not going to be bullied into rushing out more borrowed money into the hands of Democrats’ rich friends who don’t need the help.”

And the benevolent politicians, who didn’t lose their job and who can afford good health care, couldn’t care less that their subjects are doing it tough. So out of touch with reality. Remember the mantra ‘If we want quality politicians, we should pay them better’? If this is better and we continue to allow it, we’ve all lost the bloody plot.

Just because Republicans are more guilty doesn’t make Democrats not guilty.

During the “Tea Party” era, Bill Maher said, “The US spends more on Defense each year than all the other militarized nations combined. Here’s a wacky idea, cut the Defense budget in half, spend as much each year as the next nine militarized nations, and see if anyone attacks us.”
