Back when fax machines were still heavily used, some guys I knew decided to start a company. Alas, their product and business model were lacking (nobody was interested in their “e-mail security software” that was merely a poorly performing product that they were trying to resell)… so they bought some software that would send their flyer to every fax machine in the area code… our State had laws against doing that, but these guys claimed that the 1st Amendment gave them the “right to be heard”… several law firms received their unwanted faxes, and responded with lawsuits… it set a record at the time for shortest period between opening a business and closing that business…
