The irony of that $600.00 peanut is that Donald Trump just gave an enormous gift to the Democrats, and like the strategic hawk she is, Nancy Pelosi pounced all over it.
Long before Trump, PROgressive Democrats Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) in the House had already proposed the $2,000.00 direct stimulus to individuals. Pelosi, more moderate, was not able to push for that amount, but did try hard to get a direct payment of $1,200.00.
Mitch McConnell in the Senate, and Steve Mnuchin supposedly representing Trump, rejected even that lower amount, and held out for a measly $600 per individual. It is likely McConnell would have been glad to prevent any payment at all, since he had been sitting on reforms that Democrats had passed months ago, except that Democratic senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Rafael Warnock in the Georgia senate runoff were hammering Republican opponents David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler with the warning that if Georgians wanted any relief, they should vote Democratic (if Democrats take both seats McConnell loses his position as Senate Majority Leader).
So as soon as the senate passed the meager $600 payment, on the assurance that Trump would sign in, Perdue and Loeffler began running ads touting their vote for it, as little as it was.
It quickly became apparent that their boasting was quite a bit premature.
It IS peanuts. And a slap in the face of working people who aren’t able to work. AND a perfectly clear message from “Murder” Mitch McConnell and his gang of hateful GOP politicians.
We’re not trying to stimulate anything, this is relief for the working people and the poor and the more direct relief, the better shape the economy will be in when we knock down this virus.
Ramming through lifetime judicial appointments? No problem. Children in cages? Cool. Rampant racism? We can ignore that. $2,000 for people in need? That’s what it took to get the Republicans to disagree with Trump for the first time! Despicable!
The gap between the Haves and the Haves-Not in this country is huge.I saw an article titled something like “How Best to Spend Your $600 Covid Relief Check”.Loosely quoted, ….“first is food and rent, then pay down your high interest credit cards, then invest in safe stocks or other financial instruments…..”
I ain’t making this up, you can’t make this up. It is so clueless that it boggles the mind.
I am reminded of an old song from my childhood, “Found a Peanut.” It didn’t turn out well for the finder. “Died anyway. Died anyway. Died anyway just now. I just now died anyway. Died anyway just now.”
All the republicans did was call covid a hoax and then set about to spread it for herd immunity and ruined lives, ended jobs and killed 350,000 Americans, so $600 should make up for it.
I feel funny taking the money be it $600 or $2,000. We actually saved money during the pandemic. I guess we took a hit on a house we sold last spring then there was the loss on the IRA. Okay I’ll take it ? Help should go to those that suffered not everyone, feels like a Purple Participation Ribbon.
Remember when the circus came to town. Republicans wanted to be on the bandwagon, some wanted to ride on the elephants and then there were the working class Democrats following the elephants with a broom, shovel and wheelbarrow to clean up the mess.
Thinking their work was done, Pence flew off to Vale, CO, and Minuchin boarded a private plane for Cabo while Trump golfed at his resort and pouted. And a little more than half of Republicans think Trump should get another shot in 2024.

Careful…..I know that object is brown like a peanut but considering it is the Rupugnicans tossing it out….it may have come from an unsanitary source!

I think Trump just handed Mitch McConnell a thank you for recognising Joe Biden as the winner of the Presidential Election.
Trump was never stupid, just completely amoral and vindictive with it.

Moscow Mitch and his crew technically didn’t want to give even a peanut.

It would more accurately represent the republican attitude towards the people if the peanut was covered in elephant dung.
