I’ve never had brisket. What’s it like?

What’s great is that I’m pretty sure the mother isn’t just saying that—she actually did enjoy it. :)

I’d say a lot better than chicken tangier!

Not only tradition, but the kids have been waiting all year for it, assuming it’s not usually eaten at other times of the year. Kinda like my mom’s Thanksgiving turkey, stuffing and squash. I love squash much more that mashed potatoes, and when growing up, Thanksgiving was the only time of the year we had it.

Mom, like my mother-in-law, is a wise woman. She picked just the right way to spare her daughter’s feelings.

Actually the chicken did sound delicious. Had me at “spicy tomato sauce”.

When I was first married, my MIL made what was a family favorite…dried codfish gravy. It was every bit as tasty as it sounds, (sort of SOS with fish.) but not wanting to hurt my new MIL’s feelings I told her I loved it. For YEARS she made it for me as a special treat until I finally got up nerve enough to tell her I couldn’t stand it. She got a huge laugh out of the whole situation!
