Reminds me of the pioneering days of Pay TV (what ultimately became cable, I believe). I distinctly remember going to the movies and seeing ads to “Fight Pay TV.” (The movie theaters were, of course, worried about Pay TV cutting into their revenues.) One such ad had a cartoon of a TV with a coin slot mounted on its top, and the poor viewer was standing there, digging into his pocket for change. I think this would have been the early 1970s.
